THE WOLF FROM ROYAL VINEYARDS

An autobiographical film by director Jan Němec, who passionately recounts his loves, films, hopes, failures, and victories. Loosely inspired by Němec's collection of short stories Don't Give Your Hand to the Waiter, the film traces his life from the 1960s to the present day. Featuring authentic scenes, candid dialogue, the director's personal commentary, and a blend of real and staged archival footage, the story revolves around Němec's alter ego, John Jan (portrayed by Jiří Mádl and Karel Roden) who truly lived through the events depicted. Jan Němec passed away before the film's completion; assistant director Tomáš Klein took over to finish the project.
